I’m beginning to wonder if Ted Cruz is slightly unhinged.
I don’t bear any serious ill will toward him. He doesn’t know who I am, nor does he appear to know any other gay people. If Cruz were to find himself in a room of gay people he might run out screaming in a blazing fireball of horror because the mere presence of gay people near him would be a violation of his sincerely held religious beliefs.
Based on his public behavior, he appears completely obsessed with gay people and his fantasies about gay people. Over and over again, he has ranted about the ways he thinks that gay people will cause irreparable harm to straight people and destroy America by entering into the civil and legal two-party contract called marriage, by serving their country in the military, or by being treated as equal to or as good as, rather than inferior to, straight people.
He’s a good friend of Kevin Swanson, who has very clearly argued, repeatedly, that gay people should be killed simply because they are gay.
Cruz spoke at the Swanson organization’s conference in November. Swanson has received a lot of coverage and is in fact famous for claiming that gay people should be murdered. Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and former candidate Bobby Jindal also spoke at the same “Freedom 2015: National Religious Liberties Conference.”
Given the very close alliance Cruz has with Swanson’s organization, and since Cruz has never said that he thinks gay people should not be killed for being gay (which would set him apart from Swanson), it’s only logical to conclude that he and Swanson are on the same page with regard to the killing of gay people.
That makes Cruz much more dangerous to gay people than gay people would ever be to Cruz.
