Coney Barrett Knows Her Mission

Trump was explicit. Months ago, he said he would nominate Supreme Court justices who would rule that Roe v. Wade and the Affordable Care Act were unconstitutional and should be struck down. Trump nominated Amy Coney Barrett, a judge he named to the Circuit Court, to be a Supreme Court justice, and Coney Barrett knows her mission.

Prior to Trump’s nominating her, Coney Barrett was vetted by the Federalist Society. The Federalist Society has asked all the questions that Trump could not or should not ask of her regarding her opinions. We can trust the Federalist Society has explained her job to Coney Barrett, if she were on the Supreme Court.

That work has been done. Coney Barrett knows her mission.

Currently, on the brink of confirmation, she has two key tasks and one potential task. The first task is to join the majority of “conservative” justices and find that the Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional.

Predictably, if this happens, we will return to the pre-2010 health care industry hellscape, with 20+% annual cost increases for health care services, and millions of people will have difficulty affording their health insurance premiums. Why? If we were to ask Coney Barrett, she — originalist that she is — would probably tell us SCOTUS must strike down the ACA because the US Constitution does not contain the words “Affordable Care Act.”

Tasks Two and Three

The second task Coney Barrett has is to join the majority of “conservative” justices and rule that Roe v. Wade is unconstitutional.

Unfortunately, this will cause millions of women to seek and obtain illegal abortions for a variety of heartbreaking medical reasons. Many will die as a result. Why? Coney Barrett would likely tell us it is because “abortion” does not appear in the Constitution.

Let’s not deceive ourselves. It is very likely that Coney Barrett and Trump have discussed her mission. She met with him in person. And she was the only candidate for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat on the bench who met with him that way.

Which brings us to the third, potential, task. Recently, Trump has made it clear that he wants his lawyers to bring dozens of lawsuits against state elections officials claiming that their election results are illegitimate. Of course, he hopes that the finally decisive legal case ultimately goes to the Supreme Court, so SCOTUS can decide who will be President in January 2021. And Trump wants Coney Barrett on that SCOTUS.

Coney Barrett knows what Trump and the GOP-controlled Senate have hired her to do. She knows her mission.
