Trump’s Claims That The Presidential Election is “Rigged”

Frequently, especially during the last two to three weeks, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has claimed that the United States presidential election is “rigged.”

This sounds like the cries of someone who is desperately seeking an excuse to explain poor ratings in statewide and national polls.

If this election were rigged, he would not have beaten more than 15 mostly better-qualified candidates during the primary/caucus process and become the Republican Party’s nominee for the office of President.

The fact that Trump is the Republican Party’s nominee for president is incontrovertible proof that the US electoral process is not rigged.

Trump is not gaining support from diverse demographic groups, and his “I’m the victim here” claims are not helping his candidacy among voters who are better-educated and better-informed. Trump’s claims that the electoral process is “rigged” only helps to cement his support among poorly informed and poorly educated voters who are already deeply committed to him.
